THEY DON’T HEAR US SCREAM
My siblings are all around
Rooted to the ground
Listen to our cries
As another one of us dies
Our attackers are near
Why don’t they hear
They ignore our pain
As their weapons plunge again
My siblings stand petrified
Tears falling, terrified
Our foliage trembling in fear
As the marauders draw ever near
Despite all the warning
Of global warming
They cut us down one by one
Until the rainforest is almost gone
