There is no "one" right way to play the game, but there are some things to consider:
Who you visit
Some people want you to do whatever it takes to get wildlife spotted in their gardens and some do not. It is wise to frequent gardens that are advertised as No Rules if you want to just flit along sprinkling without reading wall posts. If you go to other gardens always read garden descriptions/highlighted posts to see if the garden owner has any rules/requests before you sprinkle.
If you find quiet gardens you will have the best chance of spotting wildlife. A lot of these quiet garden owners will be very happy that someone watered for them, and found something for them. You will also not be accused of “stealing” or "swooping" the chance away from another fairy that has not yet spotted that particular wildlife, and preempt jealousy-based drama. An unfortunate part of the game at times.

Going Private
If you wish to make your Garden private (so it's accessible only to you and your Facebook friends), click the "Edit Name/Description" button in your Garden, and at the bottom of the "Garden Details" box, you'll see there's now an option to make your Garden private. Remember that when your Garden is private, it won't appear in the "Gardens with Wilting Plants" list - so it's up to you and your friends to ensure that your plants don't die!
You can of course make your Garden public again in the future should you wish to do so.
Reporting people and their posts
In order to keep Fairyland safe, friendly and spam-free, the Fairyland creator states that help is appreciated in reporting any posts which are offensive, inappropriate, or contain advertisements/spam. Further, your report will only be submitted to the Fairyland Developer. If you feel a post contains inappropriate content, you are asked to complete the details of why when you submit a report. The areas are:
Advertisement/Spam
Offensive/Inappropriate
Harassment
Blocking People
It's extremely rare for "real" problems to happen in Fairyland, but should you find you have someone who is harassing you or leaving unwanted messages in your Garden, you can choose to block them from your Fairyland Profile/Garden entirely. To do this, view their Fairyland Profile (by clicking their name anywhere it appears in the app, such as on a wallpost or a Garden newsfeed) and under their profile picture you'll see the option to block.
