Remember that this year, there are 2 possible Babies which can be born from each Birthstone, and for the Garnet Birthstone, it's Baby Foxes and Baby Wombats!
(Wombats are not easy wildlife to attract, so this is definitely one for those who like a challenge!)
For full details on how to use birthstones to make baby wildlife, please see the 'Babies' section of the Wildlife Guide.

Pink Diamonds!
Friday December 14th
Starting today, the Fairyland wildlife have begun dropping bonus Pink Diamonds, as well as regular ones!
If you're lucky enough to spot any wildlife within 5 minutes of its arrival in a Garden, it will drop a bonus Pink Diamond for both the spotter and the Garden owner. (All wildlife, from the humble mouse to the rarest of the unicorns, will drop the exact same bonus of 1 Pink Diamond.)
Pink Diamonds are added to your total instantly when you spot the wildlife in another Garden. For wildlife spotted in your own Garden, the Pink Diamonds will be added to your total when you next clear your feeding table (the same as regular Diamonds.)
Finally, you're probably wondering what these new Pink Diamonds are used for? Well, you'll have to wait just a little longer, and all will be revealed when we celebrate Fairyland's 5th Birthday in January!

It's Time To Decorate The Tree!
Saturday December 1st
Fairyland has a fabulous new Christmas Tree this year... and it needs your help to decorate it!
Get started right away by sharing trees with your friends:
Send Gifts
How It Works
Decorating the tree is very similar to building snowmen or scarecrows - you need to collect the various items with which to decorate it - streamers, garlands, gifts, baubles and lights. That's 5 items in all. These items are dropped by the winter seasonal wildlife - see theSeasonal section of the Wildlife Guide for full details.
You'll notice that the winter seasonal wildlife now drop both the snowman-building items and the tree-decorating items. However they will only drop ONE item for every 5th spot (either a snowman item or a tree decoration, but not both.) If you happen to have 2 things in your garden which need decorating (e.g. a tree and a snowman), then it's always the leftmost one which will get priority - so make sure you arrange your Garden with this in mind! When fully decorated, the tree is guaranteed to make your Garden look fabulously festive, and it will also attract all the usual Christmas Tree wildlife (including Rudolph and Polar Bears!)

Poinsettias, Ice Flowers & Snowmen!
Tuesday November 27th
The festive season is fast approaching... and there's a new seasonal challenge arriving in Fairyland this year!
But to get started, our regular seasonal plants (and the Snowmen) are here once again!
First up, the Poinsettia is now available in the Gift Shoppe for sharing with friends: edit.
Send Gifts
When flowering, the Poinsettia will attract seasonal birds your Garden (Cardinals and Robins), and when harvested, all Poinsettias release a small but welcome gift of Gold!
Our regular Ice Flowers are also now available in the Gift Shoppe for sharing with friends:

While flowering, the Ice Flower will bring a beautiful flurry of snow to your Garden, attracting cold-weather wildlife such as the Arctic Fox and the Arctic Hare.
And as usual, whenever the snow is falling in your Garden, any Mice & Mallards visiting will be dressed in their best festive outfits, and will give double diamonds when spotted!
And finally, you can now build Snowmen again!
Send Gifts
This year, Snowman parts are dropped for every 5th spot of seasonal wildlife (instead of every 10th.) And as an extra bonus, there's a brand new wintry garden effect to enjoy this year after you have completed a Snowman! (Or if you already built a Snowman last year and don't want to build another this year, then you can also Star Dust last year's Snowman to get the effect... although that's not nearly so much fun as building a new one!)
Not sure how to build a Snowman? Put one in your Garden, and it will have a "Help" link which you can click to get all the info you need :)

One Final Albino!
Monday November 26th
The most popular suggestion we received for the 10th and final Albino (for this year anyway!) was the Chipmunk, so Albino Chipmunks are now on the loose in Fairyland!
Remember that all Albinos will drop a very special "Mystery Seed" the first time you spot them (these will become plantable in January as part of Fairyland's 5th Birthday celebrations... and we can guarantee that something fantastic is coming, so try to get one or two before then if you can!)

New Albino Wildlife!
Friday November 9th
Some new and very rare wildlife have been spotted around Fairyland over the last few days - Albino versions of some of the regular Fairyland wildlife: And that's not all - there's one more new arrival just arrived today... can you tell what it is? (Should be an easy one to guess!)
Remember that Albinos are extremely rare - only about 5-10% of the population of each of these wildlife types are Albino (which means that on average, you'll only get 1 Albino Kangaroo in every 10-20 regular Kangaroos for example.)
However if do you manage to spot one of these new Albinos, it will drop a very special "Mystery Seed" the first time you spot it!
This Mystery Seed cannot yet be planted, but will become plantable in January, as part of Fairyland's 5th Birthday celebrations!
...and what's coming in January promises to be the most fun & exciting thing to arrive in Fairyland yet, so try to find at least 1 or 2 Mystery Seeds if you can -
there's plenty of time between now and January to find them, so no rush :)

A Few Recent Improvements...
Thursday October 25th
Over the last few days we've had chance to make a number of improvements based on suggestions/feedback we've received... here are a few which you may like to know about:
Garden Search
Garden Search
- The "Garden Search" box on the "All Gardens" page had been broken for some time, but is now fixed and fully functional :)
Garden Game Expiry Alert
- If you like to keep a "Garden Game" running in your garden, then you'll notice that it now highlights in red when it's about to expire or has just expired, which should help you spot when it needs replacing!
Garden Status
- On the "All Gardens" page, you may notice a few more gardens with a green status "1" symbol. This simply means that that the garden has been watered by someone very recently (within the last minute) so there's probably less chance of spotting wildlife in that garden right now.
'Garden Last Watered' Message
- We fixed a small glitch with the "This garden was last watered ... ago" message you see when you first enter/refresh a garden, so it should now always be correct. (It used to be correct most of the time, except for when the plant which was last watered had been harvested or removed!)
Thanks again for your feedback!
Scorpio Zodiac Gifts Now Available!
Sunday 21st October
We need to briefly interrupt the Halloween fun because it's Zodiac time of the month again, and the Scorpio seed is now available in the gift shoppe for sharing with friends! When 'Ready For Harvest', it will of course attract Scorpions to your Garden, which will drop a Citrine Birthstone every 10th time you spot one in other Gardens.

Seasonal Challenge: Build A Scarecrow!
Thursday October 11th
It's time for a new seasonal challenge - Scarecrow building! First, help your friends to get started by sending them a stick!
How It Works
After you have a stick in your Garden (you can have more than one if you wish), your task is to then build your Scarecrow by finding a head, a hat, a shirt and some legs for it.
That's 4 different items in all.
These items are dropped by the Halloween seasonal wildlife (bats, cats, and ghostly wildlife) - every 5th spotted of each type will drop an item for you.
See the Seasonal section of the Wildlife Guide for full details! What happens after that? You'll find out soon enough....!
Have fun!

There are also some new Halloween Hand-Painted Pot designs available from today. There are 5 Halloween-themed designs in all, with a new one appearing each day (they will keep coming back around again until the end of October - so don't worry if you miss one.)
There's also a new Limited Edition black in the colour options, which is of course the perfect colour to complement any Halloween Garden :)
That's all for today, but there's a brand new seasonal challenge arriving later this week, so make sure you have at least one Halloween Flower growing in preparation!

Just an advance notice that we have some maintenance planned for this weekend, which means Fairyland will be unavailable for approximately 2-3 hours.
The maintenance will begin in approximately 1 day, 20 hours

(However, some great new game releases are arriving in October, after we've got this technical stuff out of the way! :)
Apologies in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Remove Unwanted Background Effects!
Wednesday August 15th
A small but useful new feature has arrived today... you can now view a list of all background effects which are currently frozen in your Garden,
and individually remove any which you no longer want!
To do this, simply click the "Star Dust" button just below your garden (the same one used to freeze your background) and in the message box popup that appears you'll now also see the new option to "View/Remove Individual Effects." (Note: you'll only see this option when you already have some frozen effects in your Garden.) And of course, it costs nothing at all to remove an effect - you can do it whenever you wish!
Thanks to everyone who suggested this feature, have fun with it!

Aurora Stones!
Thursday August 9th
Collected a few extra Diamonds during the Free Superfood weekend and looking for something nice to spend them on?
Well if you like Fairyland's Magical Pots and background effects, then you'll be happy to hear that a new one has arrived today - Aurora Stones!
The Aurora Stones may not look like much... but they're capable of producing a colourful background effect in your Garden when the correct flower is growing in them
(we've received many requests for this particular background effect!)
They are only available at Garden Level 20 and above, because their magical effect is activated by the flowering Piscis Aquabullae, which becomes available at that level.
Different colours of Piscis flower produce different (but complementary) effects in your Garden, so if you have a few sets of Aurora Stones,
you can combine multiple effects together to get more of an overall effect.
Finally, it's also possible to change the overall effect by using one of the existing magical pots, the Old Boot, to also produce a wind effect in your Garden - try it and see what happens!
Well if you like Fairyland's Magical Pots and background effects, then you'll be happy to hear that a new one has arrived today - Aurora Stones!

It's a FREE SUPERFOOD Weekend!!
Friday August 3rd
Get ready for a wildlife population explosion in Fairyland because it's time for one of our (very occasional) Free Superfood Weekends, which begins right now!
Everyone can take advantage of the free Superfood, the only condition being that your garden needs to be "public" so that everyone can freely hunt. (If you have made your Garden "private" then you can still take advantage simply by making your Garden public :)
Simply refill your feeding tables as you usually would, and you will see the "Free Superfood" option in the Shoppe!

Limited Edition Olympic Pots!
Friday July 27th
Today marks the official opening of the Games of the XXX Olympiad in London, England.
With Fairyland being the truly global community that it is, it seems fitting to introduce some nice Limited Edition items to commemorate the Games.
Of course, we can't use any Olympic symbols or trademarks in Fairyland (or we may land ourselves in trouble!), but inspired by suggestions we received on our forums, we've come up with these special Limited Edition pots which you can buy for your Garden (you'll find them in the "Limited Editions" section of the Pot Shoppe.)
The pot design is based on a style of pillar found in ancient Greek architecture (to represent the origins of the Olympics), and they come in the colours gold, silver and bronze (to represent the medal colours.) They're also of slightly different heights (just like the medal podiums!)
So when your country wins a medal, be proud and plant a flower in the appropriate pot in your Garden!
These Limited Editions are available until the Games close, on August 12th.

Leo Zodiac Gifts Now Available!
Wednesday July 18th
It's that time of the month again, and the Leo Zodiac seed is available in the gift shoppe for sending to friends! When 'Ready For Harvest', it will attract Lions to your Garden,
who will drop a Peridot Birthstone every 10th time you spot one in other Gardens.
New! It's been exactly a year since Birthstones first appeared in Fairyland, and many Gardens already made Baby Brown Bunnies from the Peridot Birthstone last year. So this year, each Birthstone will be capable of producing a new baby (as well as the original one, so you can choose which one you'd like to go for, or do both!)
For this month's Peridot Birthstone, the new baby is the Giraffe!
For full details about birthstones and baby wildlife, please see the 'Babies' section of the Wildlife Guide. (Note: You can use any spare Peridot Birthstones you may already have in storage to make baby Giraffes - so there's no need to collect new ones if you already have some saved :)
Finally, because there are now 2 possible different babies each month, Mother & Baby pairs will begin returning to your Garden a little earlier than before - after only 5 Babies have been born in your Garden, rather than 10 (remember to try and get "twins" born in your Garden if possible, and you'll reach 5 in no time :)
Happy baby making!

Downtime Today
Monday July 16th
An unexpected problem at our datacenter meant that Fairyland was unavailable for around an hour today
(during this time there would also have been Field Mice going where they shouldn't have gone!)
All should be back to normal now, but please accept our apologies for this downtime. Problems do occasionally happen of course,
but here's a small gift of Gold and Star Dust anyway to help make up for any inconvenience caused :)

Forget-me-not
Monday July 16th
We receive many great suggestions for things you'd like to see in Fairyland, and although it's impossible for us to do them all,
we like to introduce a few of them to the game whenever we can.
One request which has come up numerous times is for a remembrance / memorial plant, so today, a beautiful new Forget-me-not flower has arrived in Fairyland (you can find the seed in the 'Misc' section of the Seed Shoppe.)

When Ready For Harvest, the Forget-me-not will become a candle with an ever-burning flame. It has no effect on wildlife visiting your garden,
so can simply be placed in your Garden whenever you wish.
Do you have any requests for new plants/pots/backgrounds etc which you would like to see in Fairyland in the future? Please let us know in the
"Feedback/Suggestions" section at the bottom of our Forums page and one day it may just happen!

Chick Challenge (The Final Chapter!)
Thursday July 5th
As promised, a few more Fairyland birds have started nesting today, which means more super-cute chicks will soon be hatching in Fairyland Gardens!
Full details of the new arrivals are in the 'Chicks' section of the Wildlife Guide...
We hope that you enjoy the final part of this challenge.... or if you're not so keen on the birds/chicks, then the good news for you is that this is the last of them! ;)

New & Improved Food!
Friday June 29th
We've received quite a few requests to make food timings even faster, so today, we have!
- Regular Food: Now attracts wildlife faster (5 wildlife within 24 hours) and still only costs 5 Gold!
- Organic Food: Now attracts wildlife faster (5 wildlife within 18 hours) and still only costs 10 Gold!
- Double Organic Food: Now attracts wildlife faster (10 wildlife in 36 hours) and still only costs 20 Gold!
- Superfood: Attracts wildlife super-fast (15 wildlife within 24 hours, plus all wildlife are guaranteed to stay for the maximum possible time), and still only costs 1 Star Dust!
- You'll probably notice that Regular Food is effectively now the same as Organic Food used to be (but half the price!) So if you would rather save some Gold than speed up your feeding times, you can now simply use Regular food instead of Organic :)
Note: These new timings will not apply to food currently in your Garden - only to new food purchased from now onwards.
Also, a few people have requested that we set a maximum possible time between wildlife visits for each food type, so we have done this too! Here they are:- Regular Food: 8 Hours
- Organic Food: 6 hours
- Double Organic Food: 6 Hours
- Superfood: 3 Hours
Remember that these are only the maximum possible gaps between visits - gaps will usually be much shorter.
Finally, most wildlife still visit for the same amount of time as before, but in order to speed up the food (and avoid overlapping visits!) we had to put an upper limit on the possible staying times so that nothing stays for more than an hour. So for example mice used to stay up to 90 minutes but now only stay an hour at most.
Enjoy :)
Cancer Zodiac Flowers Available!
Tuesday June 19th
It's time to attract some friendly crabs to your Garden - Cancer Zodiac flowers are now available again in the Gift Shoppe!
Send Gifts
Remember that crabs can't reach too high, so leave the food out on the low table for them! Crabs will drop a Ruby Birthstone every 10th time you spot one in other Gardens.
You can then use these Birthstones to help make cute baby Red Squirrels in your Garden! Full details about baby wildlife can be found in the Wildlife Guide.

Nest Improvements!
Wednesday June 13th
A couple more improvements today, following feedback we've received:
1. Unfinished nests can now be sent to storage at any time (instead of only after they've been completed)
2. You can now see how long until a completed nest will need repairing (in the "Built By" section on each completed nest)
Finally, here's a small gift for everyone... enjoy

Nesting Birds - Update!
Tuesday June 12th
Thanks for all the feedback on the new Nesting Birds challenge!
As usual, we didn't get it quite right on the first attempt(!) so a tweak has been made today to reduce the number of birds you need to spot to get a nesting bird to lay an egg -
the most you will now need to spot is 5 (and often less, depending on how many you've already spotted.)
Thanks as always for all of your feedback, and for letting us know where we didn't get things quite right the first time around.... have fun getting those cute little chicks to hatch :)
For full details about how to get birds to nest in your Garden and lay eggs, please see the 'Chicks' section of the Wildlife Guide!

And Finally...
Wednesday May 23rd
The last of our new feathered friends arriving in Fairyland this month have just joined us today!
They're not in the Wildlife Guide just yet, so you'll need to work with friends to find Gardens which have accidentally attracted them, then figure out what in those Gardens might be attracting them.
(The first one is quite easy to attract, the second may be a little more difficult to find.)
Also today, you may notice that there's a new (empty) section in the Wildlife Guide, which can only mean that something new and exciting is arriving in Fairyland soon! For now, this remains a mystery, but all will be revealed in just a couple of weeks from now!

Another Bird Mystery To Solve!
Friday May 11th
Continuing our theme this month, another mystery bird has arrived in Fairyland today!
All we know about this one is that he needs 3 different flowers together in a garden to attract him. These flowers are all different, but are related in some way. If you can identify what type of bird he might be from just his shadow (very difficult, but someone is sure to get it - try our forums for sharing ideas!) then this will give a big clue as to which 3 flowers are required.
(If nobody can get it, we will post more clues tomorrow...)
Good luck!

The Mystery Of The Fairyland Nightingale!
Friday May 4th
Many Fairylanders enjoy a good mystery to solve, and there's a new one today with the arrival of Nightingales in Fairyland!
The name 'Nightingale' means 'Night Songstress', and they are so-called because they often sing at night as well as during the day.
In fact, Fairyland's Nightingales are particularly tuneful little birds, and are known to have a different song for every day of the week!
They are listed in the Fairyland Wildlife Guide, however the information on how to attract them is currently incomplete,
which means that it's up to the Fairies and Elves of Fairyland to work together to solve the mystery of how to attract them.
Note: This is quite a difficult mystery to solve, as the setup required is not just a simple one. Be on the lookout for clues, and work together with friends
(with different Gardens experimenting with different setups), and all will eventually be revealed!

Bird Spotting!
Wednesday May 2nd
Some new feathered friends are joining us in Fairyland this month, beginning with these two new arrivals today:
A little detective work will be required here, because the new birds are not yet listed in the Wildlife Guide.
However there are sure to be a few Gardens lucky enough to already have the perfect setup for them, so you'll need to work with friends to find a few Gardens in which they've been spotted and figure out which plants seem to be attracting them!
Good luck, and look out for more new arrivals soon (some of which may be arriving unannounced!)

Friday "Egg"stravaganza (Part III)Friday April 27th
It's time for our third and final Friday "Egg"stravaganza, to help everyone complete the chicks & eggs challange before the end of the month!
In today's "Egg"stravaganza, all eggs will hatch a chick of the same colour, so for example violet eggs will always hatch violet chicks, and indigo eggs will always hatch indigo chicks,
so you can really focus your hunting on those colours you still need.
Also, just like last weekend, no nests will need repairing during this time, so you can freely discard or hatch as many eggs as you like! (Please note: nests which already need repair will still need to be repaired, this just means that no new ones will break over the weekend.)
Finally, just to add to the fun, Supershrooms are FREE all weekend!
This should really help you to fill in any final missing chicks in your Wildlife Guide (if you haven't done so already!) before the Daffodils finally disappear again at the end of this month.
Have Fun!

Wow! Two Million Easter Bunnies Spotted!
Thursday April 27th
This year's Great Fairyland Easter Bunny Hunt just reached the unbelievable milestone of 2 Million Easter Bunnies spotted! (The lucky spotter of the 2,000,000th Bunny was a fairy called Twinkle.)
Congratulations to everyone taking part this year... and remember, the Bunnies' third and final "Egg"stravaganza begins tomorrow (or later today, depending on where/when you are reading this :)

Friday "Egg"stravaganza (Part II)
Friday April 20th
Our Friday "Egg"stravaganza is here once again, to help everyone complete the chicks & eggs challange before the end of the month :)
In today's "Egg"stravaganza, free Superfood is available all weekend to all public Gardens!
This will help to increase the Easter Bunny population dramatically, and will also help your chicks hatch faster and stay longer :)
Everyone can take advantage of the free Superfood, as long as your Garden is open for anyone to freely hunt in (i.e. not "private".)
Simply refill your feeding tables as you usually would, and you will see the "Free Superfood" option in the Shoppe!
But that's not all... no nests will need repairing during this time either, so you can freely discard or hatch as many eggs as you like! (Please note: nests which already need repair will still need to be repaired, this just means that no new ones will break over the weekend.) So get your Garden up with Daffodils and Superfood Veggies to help your fellow egg hunters complete the challenge, and have fun!

Taurus Zodiac + Earth Day Gifts Now Available!
Wednesday April 18th
It's that time of the month again, and the Taurus Zodiac seed is available in the gift shoppe for sending to friends!
When 'Ready For Harvest', it will attract Bulls to your Garden. Bulls will drop a Emerald Birthstone every 10th time you spot one in other Gardens.
You can then use these Birthstones to help make cute baby Lop Eared Bunnies in your Garden (and they really are very cute indeed!) Full details about baby wildlife can be found in the Wildlife Guide.

Also today, Fairyland's Earth Flower is back, for anyone who would like to grow one for Earth Day on April 22nd. The Earth Flower does not attract any new wildlife, however it does help to protect a larger amount of rainforest than your usual Fairyland flower (10 sq ft per flower when harvested, which really adds up if everyone grows one!)
Friday "Egg"stravaganza (Part I)
Friday April 13th
There are 3 Fridays remaining in April, and on each of these Fridays the Easter Bunnies will be holding a special Friday "Egg"stravaganza, to help everyone complete the chicks & eggs challenge
before the end of the month :)
In today's "Egg"stravaganza, the Easter Bunnies will be dropping only the 3 most "valuable" eggs - Blue, Indigo and Violet (or Rainbow for every 10th spotted.) This will continue throughout the weekend, so there will be more of the rarer chicks around than usual over the next few days, giving you better odds of spotting/attracting any which you don't yet have :)
(Apologies if you're currently collecting other coloured eggs, for example for the eggshell pots.... they will all return next week!)
Good Luck!

Woohoo - One Million Easter Bunnies Spotted!
Thursday April 5th
Congratulations to everyone who is taking part in the Great Fairyland Easter Bunny Hunt this year, because we just reached the incredible milestone of 1 Million Easter Bunnies spotted!
(The lucky spotter of the 1,000,000th Bunny was a fairy called Abby.)
To celebrate, the bunnies have decided to begin dropping some new and very special Rainbow Eggs! The Rainbow Egg is dropped by every 10th Bunny you spot in other Gardens. So for example, if you've spotted 17 Bunnies so far, spot 3 more and you'll get a Rainbow Egg (be sure that you have an empty nest ready for it in your Garden first!)
The Rainbow Chick (which hatches from the Rainbow Egg) will also have a nice little gift of Star Dust for you the first time you spot one in another Garden :)
Finally, after the Rainbow Chick has hatched, be sure to keep the empty rainbow eggshell because not only can it be used as an attractive pot in your Garden, but it's actually a Magical Pot, capable of producing a special effect in your Garden when a Daffodil is flowering in it!

Celebrity Spotting In Fairyland!
Sunday April 1st
We were very excited to read this article in the Los Angeles Times today about Fairyland's growing popularity among Hollywood stars, and thought we'd share it with everyone!
Social Game Phenomenon Hits Hollywood

Facebook game "Fairyland" is fast becoming something of a phenomenon among Hollywood's A-listers, with an ever-growing number of celebrities becoming hooked on playing the little-known social gardening game.
"You can't attend a single Hollywood party these days without the conversation turning to how to attract badgers to your garden, or unicorn hunting techniques," one insider told us, referring to the fact that the game involves players attracting and spotting different types of wildlife in each others' gardens.
Socialite Paris Hilton was one of the first celebrities to discover Fairyland. "I just love spotting all those cute lil' animals, and everyone's so nice and friendly," Hilton told us. "I invited a couple of girlfriends to play, then they invited even more of their friends, and the next thing I know I find Brad (Pitt) in my garden trying to spot a badger!"
We reached out to Pitt for comment, and he confirmed that Fairyland is not just for the ladies. "Angelina (Jolie, Pitt's wife) sent me an invite a few weeks ago, and I've been hooked ever since," Pitt exclusively revealed to us from the set of his latest movie. "Problem is, I keep showing up 20 minutes late for shoots because I'm so busy trying to spot my first unicorn!"
Update: Happy April Fool's Day! (...but who knows, maybe Brad will join us in FL one day!)

Bunny Spotting Record Smashed (Already!)
Friday March 23rd
Congratulations to all the Easter Bunny Hunters out there - we've just smashed through last year's record for Easter Bunnies spotted... and we're still only 8 days into this year's Great Easter Bunny Hunt,
with over a month to go!
Here are the previous years' final tallies, and this year's total so far: 2010:401,201 bunnies spotted
2011:430,460 bunnies spotted
2012:430,461 and counting!!!
It looks like we're on course for a million Easter Bunnies spotted this year which would be an incredible achievement... can we do it by the end of April?!

Grow An Earth Flower - For Earth Hour!
Friday March 23rd
Earth Hour is this Monday, and people all over the world will be turning out their lights for an hour from 8:30pm - 9:30pm, to promote awareness of the need to protect our planet for future generations.
If you wish, you can 'turn out the lights' in your Fairyland Garden too, with our Limited Edition Earth Flower, available for gifting now for free!
When Fully Grown (or Ready For Harvest), the Earth Flower will allow you to turn out the lights in your Garden for 1 hour at the time of your choosing - aim for 8:30pm on Monday, your local time. (Please note that there's no special wildlife attracted to the Earth Flower, but it does look very nice in the Garden :)
Fairyland is a truly global community, so it should be fun to see Gardens in different timezeones going dark at different times throughout the day on Monday!

Set Your Own Maximum "Wildlife Alert" Time!
Thursday March 22nd
A nice little feature has been added today, following feedback we've received recently - you can now set the maximum possible time for "wildlife alerts" in your own Garden :)
"Wildlife alerts" are the advance warnings which some types of short-staying wildlife (chicks, babies, hummingbirds, butterflies etc) give before they feed, to let you know they're coming. Until now, these would always last for anything up to 30 minutes. Many Gardens will likely just leave things the way they are now (i.e. a maximum alert time of 30 minutes) as these alerts are useful for getting your short-staying wildlife spotted. But some very busy Gardens may now choose to have shorter alerts (or even switch off alerts completely!)
You can find this new option in the "About This Garden" section of your Garden.
Have fun experimenting with the new alerts :)

Aries Zodiac Gifts Now Available!
Monday March 19th
Most Gardens are currently enjoying the egg-hunting challenge, so it will probably be a while before anyone plants this month's Zodiac seed... but it's that time of the month, so it's available now anyway for anyone who wants it!
When 'Ready For Harvest', it will attract Rams to your Garden. Rams will drop a Diamond Birthstone every 10th time you spot one in other Gardens.
You can then use these Birthstones to help make cute baby Badgers in your Garden! (Full details about baby wildlife are in the Wildlife Guide.)
Badgers are notoriously difficult to attract at the best of times, so remember to be patient with them! (The birthstones never expire of course, so Badgers can simply be attracted gradually over a period of time.)

Storing Nests (In Need Of Repair)
Monday March 19th
We've received a number of requests to be able to "store" nests which are in need of repair (all nests, except for hummingbird nests, need a little repairing after every 5 eggs.)
Great news - this is now possible, so you can now store any nests which need repairing, and then repair them at a more convenient time
(for example, overnight is a popular time to set your Garden up for nest repairs!)

Golden Daffodils!
Friday March 16th
Something we forgot to mention in all the excitement yesterday was that all Daffodils give bonus Gold when harvested this year - every one is guaranteed to give 10 Gold (and if you're really lucky, you may get a little more than that sometimes!)
So keep growing them throughout the next few weeks, and they will not only make your Garden look pretty and attract plenty of Easter Bunnies for your visitors to spot, but they'll also provide you with an extra source of free Gold :) Better still, we've just made Daffodils available in the regular Seed Shoppe too (in the "Misc" section) which means that you can plant them just like normal seeds, in any pot you like... and even better still - they're completely FREE!
Enjoy :)

The Great Fairyland Easter Bunny Hunt Is Back!
Thursday March 15th
It's time for this year's Great Fairyland Easter Bunny Hunt to begin!
Daffodils are now available for gifting to friends - these will attract the Easter Bunny to your Garden!
There's a whole new twist this year's Easter hunt... and it's time to start make use of those nests you've been building!
While hunting the Easter Bunny, keep an empty nest in your Garden... then when you spot a bunny (in another garden) he will drop an egg for you.
Incubate this egg in your nest, leaving some Bird Mix out in your Garden at the same time (on a low table) and it will soon hatch!
Not finished building a nest yet?
Don't worry - so that everyone can join the fun right away, you can now get one ready-completed nest simply by clicking here! (But there's only one freebie nest per Garden - if you want more than one then you'll need to get nest-building ;)
Nest repairs:
Nests don't last forever - each one can host 5 eggs (one after the other, not at the same time) before it will need a little repair work. This simply means that it goes back to 80% complete, and you'll need to get some help from your feathered friends to repair it. (Tip: nest parts added by Hummingbirds don't ever need repairing, so if you can manage to build yourself an all-hummingbird nest then you'll never need to repair it :)
What hatches from the eggs?
Different coloured eggs hatch different coloured chicks, so for example the red egg only hatches red chicks, but the violet egg randomly hatches any colour chick (with equal chance.) Please see the Seasonal section in the Wildlife Guide for full details (the chicks even drop triple seeds for every 10th spotted - great news if you're collecting for Supershrooms etc!) Finally, let's try to break last year's record!
Here's a reminder of how many Easter Bunnies were spotted in previous years... can we spot even more Bunnies this year (by the end of April)?!

Leprechauns and Shamrocks!
Thursday March 8th
As many Fairylanders already know, early March is the time of year when the Leprechauns pay us a visit! Leprechauns can be spotted in and around the Gardens mischeivously stealing the veggies which have been left out for Wildlife! They are attracted to Gardens with fully grown Shamrocks, and these are available now for gifting to friends. (Remember that you can also send them to friends who aren't on Fairyland yet - especially if you have any Irish friends who may appreciate one!)
Send Gifts
This year, Leprechauns drop Forest Emerald seeds for every 10th spotted in other Gardens (many Fairylanders commented last year that the Emerald would be the most appropriate seed for them to drop, and the Leprechauns agreed!) Finally, as an additional bonus, every Shamrock releases a small Pot O' Gold when harvested... and if you're super-lucky and manage to grow a 4-leaf Shamrock, it will produce a magical garden effect along with a bigger Pot O' Gold! (Approximately 1 in 10 Fairyland Shamrocks will grow 4 leaves.)
Good luck!

Spring Seasonal Challenge - Nest Building!
Tuesday February 21st
Spring is in the air in Fairyland, and it's the perfect time for the birds to start building their nests.
But they can't do it alone - they'll need a helping hand from the Fairies and Elves of Fairyland... which means it's time for a brand new Fairyland Seasonal Challenge for Spring: Nest Building!
First, you'll need to provide the birds with somewhere to build their nests in your Garden - a Nesting Tree. These are available now as free gifts for sharing with friends:

After you have a Nesting Tree in your Garden, your next task is then to attract different birds to your Garden to build a nest in it! All adult birds in Fairyland can help to build a nest, and each nest requires the help of 5 different birds to complete it. Every 5th of each type of bird attracted to your Garden (and spotted) will add a little more to your nest.
So as an example, if you have already had 3 Wrens, 8 Yellow Wagtails, 9 Pairs of Lovebirds, 21 Mallards and 12 Magpies spotted in your Garden, you will need to attract a further 2 Wrens, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 1 Pair of Lovebirds, 4 Mallards and 3 Magpies (and have them all spotted either by your visitors or by yourself) to complete your first nest. (Any combination of 5 different birds is ok!)
After you've set your Garden up with a Nesting Tree, and flowers/food to attract birds, remember to help your friends complete their nests by spotting birds in their Gardens for them!

What Can I Do With A Finished Nest?
Nothing.... yet! All you can do just now is to send completed nests to your storage area for safe keeping.
Then all will be revealed around mid-March - this should give everyone plenty of time to get at least one nest finished and ready :)
In fact, if you can get your first nest finished in good time, then it's a good idea to build another... having more than one will definitely be useful later!
(If you enjoy a challenge, you could even try for an all-hummingbird-built nest!)

Cupid Mouse Arrives To Spread The Love!
Monday February 6th
There's a new arrival in Fairyland today - meet Cupid Mouse! Cupid Mouse's mission is to "spread the love" thoughout Fairyland by slowly but surely visiting every single Garden!
But he can only do this with the help of all the Fairies and Elves, so here's what you need to do...
Similar to other "special" mice, Cupid Mouse will visit your garden in place of the regular Field Mouse whenever you have a flowering Valentine Rose in your Garden.
The Valentine Rose looks like this:
But he can only do this with the help of all the Fairies and Elves, so here's what you need to do...
Similar to other "special" mice, Cupid Mouse will visit your garden in place of the regular Field Mouse whenever you have a flowering Valentine Rose in your Garden.
The Valentine Rose looks like this:
Starting today and until February 14th, all newly created Fairyland Gardens will automatically receive a Valentine Rose. So to begin with, brand new Gardens will be the only ones capable of attracting Cupid Mouse. To get a Valentine Rose for your own Garden, you need to spot a Cupid Mouse in someone else's Garden, while at the same time ensuring that you have an empty "Glass Vase" in your own Garden (this is the pot which comes free with the Loveflower gift.)
Then when you manage to spot Cupid Mouse, he will fire his arrow over into your Garden, which will land in the empty vase and grow into your own beautiful Valentine Rose. While flowering, your Valentine Rose will then attract Cupid Mouse to your own Garden (it flowers for just 1 day, so be sure he doesn't have too much other competition for the food!)
In this way, Cupid Mouse will slowly but surely "spead the love" throughout Fairyland as he visits more and more Gardens! (This also means that he will become easier to spot over time, so don't worry if you can't spot him immediately...)
There are always a few new Gardens starting in Fairyland every day so the first few Cupid Mouse visits should be coming soon. Or to get things kick-started faster, you could also invite a few friends to start new Gardens! (If you were looking for an excuse to invite a few friends to Fairyland, then what better time to do it than now?!)

And just like last year, you can secretly Star-Dust a "Ready For Harvest" Loveflower in any Garden in Fairyland... and the Garden Owner will be left guessing who did it! Whose Loveflower(s) will you Star-Dust this year, and will you receive a secret Star-Dusting yourself?!
And that's not all... coming to Fairyland early next week is a very special Valentine's visitor, who will bring a slightly different twist to things, which should be a lot of fun! (More news on this soon...)

Technical Problems Earlier Today...
Monday January 30th
If you were trying to get into Fairyland earlier today then you may have encountered a few problems as we were unfortunately experiencing some technical difficulties
for a couple of hours. All should be returning to normal now, however a few wildlife will certainly have been missed during that time,
and quite a few field mice will have gone where they shouldn't have gone as well(!!)
Even if you weren't affected by the downtime, here's a small gift to make up for the missed wildlife etc anyway... 100 Gold and a bonus Star Dust :)

Apologies once again for this unusual downtime, and thank you for your patience while we were working hard to get everything running again!

Caterpillars and Butterflies Improvements!)
Friday January 6th 2012
We've received feedback that some Fairylanders have been finding the Caterpillars & Butterflies a little stressful or difficult, especially now that fewer Gardens are actively doing them.
So we've had a word with the Caterpillars, and they have agreed to alter their behaviour slightly to make things more relaxed and fun for all in Fairyland :)
So we've had a word with the Caterpillars, and they have agreed to alter their behaviour slightly to make things more relaxed and fun for all in Fairyland :)
If you haven't yet completed the Butterflies:
You'll be pleased to hear that Caterpillars will now happily form their chrysalis on a Butterpillaflora at any time after it sprouts (but before it flowers) rather than only during the first hour after planting. This gives you more time to hunt for each Caterpillar, making it a much more relaxed activity :)
If you have already completed the Butterflies:
You can now use your "Rainbow Butterpillaflora" whenever you have a Supershroom in your Garden to turn all those Wriggly Red Caterpillars into a much more sought-after Caterpillar type instead! (We'll leave it up to you to figure out exactly how this is done, but here's a clue: it needs to be kept 'sparkling'...)
These small changes should help to make Caterpillar & Butterfly spotting the relaxing and fun activity it should be in Fairyland, both by increasing the number of rare Caterpillars around, and by giving more time in which to spot them to get a chrysalis. So if you haven't yet started on them (or are only part way through them) why not give them a go next!

Finally, I'd just like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a very happy and magical new year! Thank you for your continued support which allows us to keep making Fairyland better and better, and special thanks to everyone simply for spreading a little fun and happiness wherever your Fairyland travels take you - this is truly what makes Fairyland the magical place that it is!
See you in 2012!

Self-Gifting Now Possible!
Saturday December 10th
We have received a few requests to be able to self-gift the seasonal items, instead of waiting for a friend to send one to you.
Great news - this is now possible, so you now have the option to "buy" any seasonal gift for your own Garden direct from the Gift Shoppe!
It costs 10 Gold to buy a gift for yourself from the shoppe - just like buying a regular pot/plant. And of course, it's still completely free to send them as gifts - so you should only use the 'buy' option if you really can't wait for it to arrive as a free gift from a friend!

Tuesday December 6th
A good few Gardens are already well on the way to completing a snowman or two, and there are certainly some weird and wonderful creations out there!

today is that this now possible :)
The temperature of your storage area has been turned down below zero so your Snowmen won't melt, and you will now see a 'Send To Storage' option
is available on any completed Snowmen in your Garden (note: only completed Snowmen can be stored, incomplete ones cannot.)

Christmas Trees Now Available!
Tuesday November 29th
Festive Christmas Trees are now available in the Gift Shoppe for sharing with friends!
Send Gifts
The Christmas Tree is very similar to the Ice Flower in terms of the effect it has on your Garden (it brings the snow while fully grown, and attracts the same wildlife) - the main difference is that it also attracts Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer when RFH!
Every harvested Christmas Tree also protects a little extra rainforest than the average Fairyland plant (10 sq ft) - so it's worth growing more than one if you have room in your Garden!
The Christmas Tree is the last of our regular festive plants, which means that we're all set for this year's brand new surprise... which will be arriving later this week :)

Fairyland Welcomes... Pink Fairy Armadillos!
Friday October 7th
Congratulations to Leigh (first correct answer) and Nicola (randomly selected correct answer) for correctly
identifying the new Fairyland critter as the Pink Fairy Armadillo - you both win 1000 Gold!
This was a very tough one, so congratulations if you got it right!
To attract the little guy (and they certainly are small - only about 4 inches long when fully grown), you'll need the new Organ Pipe Cactus which is available now in the Cactus section of the Shoppe. Note: you will need to have already grown the previous 3 Cacti before this new one is unlocked for you.
As an added bonus, there's also a new Magical Pot available especially for growing Cacti! It costs 100 Diamonds, and it will magically transport your Garden to a desert setting when any Cactus is growing in it!
Finally, note that the Wildlife Guide lists the Pink Fairy Armadillo as "very rare", so you'll need to set up your Garden well to attract them (and remember to deter those pesky Geckos!)

It's Time To Turn Fairyland Pink!
Friday September 30th
Every October, Fairyland turns pink to help raise awareness about breast cancer.
There are a few new surprises in store this year (have you ever seen pink elephants before?!) so get started now by sending Pink Ribbon Plants to your friends!
And even better news - the sending limits have increased for Fairyland gifts, and you can now send a Pink Ribbon Plant to anything up to 50 friends a day, whether they're already on Fairyland or not!

Page Refreshing, Bookmarks etc
Friday September 30th
The most common feedback we have received about the new version of Fairyland is that browser navigation (refreshing the page, bookmarking pages,
garden names in the browser title etc) doesn't work quite the same as before.
If you use our new website at http://www.fairylandgame.com to access Fairyland, you should find that all browser functions
(bookmarking, garden names in titles, refreshing, going back etc) work correctly.
However when Fairyland runs within Facebook, some browser functions may not behave quite as expected. (The technical reason for this it that Facebook now require apps to run inside a "frame" which means the browser address bar does not get updated while you navigate around. There is no way for us to "work around" this problem unfortunately.)
Instead, we do strongly recommend using the app onhttp://www.fairylandgame.com - it's exactly the same app as on Facebook, but on our own website we are no longer constrained by Facebook's limitations and quirks, and you also get the advantage of not having to look at Facebook's ads or the scrolling ticker on the right while you play :)
For your convenience, we have also added a new "pop out" icon which you will see in the top right corner if you use Fairyland inside of Facebook,
allowing you to pop out to fairylandgame.com at any time and remain in the same Garden :)

Welcome To A New And Improved Fairyland!
Wednesday September 28th
Today, we have launched a new and improved version of Fairyland!
Here are a few things you'll probably notice:
We hope you like the improvements so far... more good stuff coming soon :)
Update: As expected, there are a few initial glitches we need to work through (some people are missing their friends lists,
there are some slow loading pages / page loading errors around, and a few people are getting session timeout problems.)
We should get all of the little issues resolved over the next few days, apologies for any inconvenience caused in the meantime if you are affected.
Here are a few things you'll probably notice:
- Gardens and other pages should generally load faster
- Fairyland is now also available outside of Facebook athttp://www.fairylandgame.com (this has been one of our most frequent requests!)
- You can quickly and easily delete all messages from your Garden Wall using the new [x] icon at the top
- There's a new "preferences" option where you can remove some of the 'Are you sure?' boxes to speed things up even more.
- Any gifts you receive from now onwards can be accepted/deleted from inside the app simply by clicking the new 'gift' icon top right.
We hope you like the improvements so far... more good stuff coming soon :)

Where Do Baby Wildlife Come From?
Thursday August 25th
One of the most important jobs of the Fairies and Elves in Fairyland is to help the Wildlife make their babies!
By carefully setting up your Garden with the right flowers and an emptyBirthstone pot (Birthstones are dropped by Zodiac Wildlife), you will create the right environment
for each type of Baby Wildlife to be born! The information in the new 'Babies' section in the Wildlife Guide will tell you all you need to know!
Good luck, and have fun :)

Wish Upon A Star!
Friday August 12th
Every year at around this time, the Perseid Meteor Shower creates a spectacular display of "Shooting Stars" in the night sky. Have you been lucky enough to see any
this year? (The meteor shower is set to peak tonight!)
If not, don't worry because you can now also have your own Shooting Stars in your Fairyland Garden with a little help from the new Star Pot, available now in the "Magical" section of the Pot Shoppe!
When the correct flower becomes "Ready For Harvest" in this pot (and it should be pretty easy to figure out which flower is required!) it will begin to work its magic...
Oh, and if you see a Shooting Star while out and about in Fairyland,
remember to make a wish :)

Magical Birthstones!
Monday August 8th
Something new and exciting has started happening with
Fairyland's Zodiac wildlife...
As first announced last week, the Zodiac wildlife no longer drop regular Forest Seeds - instead, they now drop Magical Birthstones!
Just like the Forest Seeds, a Magical Birthstone is dropped by every 10th of each type of Zodiac Wildlife which you spot in other Gardens (so for example if you're lucky enough to have already spotted 9 or 19 or 29 Lions, thn you will only need to spot one more for your first Magical Birthstone!)
Each Zodiac animal drops a different Birthstone. For example the current Zodiac wildlife, Leo the Lion, drops the Peridot Birthstone:
For the first couple of weeks, these can only be collected. They will be automatically sent to your Storage Area when found, where you can keep them safe, or you can even use them as regular pots in your Garden if you wish (they don't do anything special yet though!)
The Birthstones' magical properties will be revealed later this month...
Happy hunting!

Zodiac Wildlife
Wednesday August 3st
In case anyone is currently hunting any of the Zodiac Wildlife for the 'Forest Seeds' they drop, this is an advance warning that starting next week, Zodiac Wildlife will no longer drop Forest Seeds and will begin dropping something completely different each time you spot 10 of them! (We will post here again when the changeover happens - all other wildlife will continue dropping Forest Seeds as before.)
But what will the Zodiacs soon be dropping and what will it do?
Find out soon!

The Last Hummingbird Arrives!
Wednesday July 13th
The last of the hummingbirds has arrived in Fairyland today, the Blossomcrown:
As with all of Fairyland's hummingbirds, you'll first need to spend time collecting the required seeds before you can attract it to your Garden -
full details for this one are in the Wildlife Guide.
The arrival of the last hummingbird may be a little sad (*sniff*) but the good news is that it means a completely new category of wildlife will be coming along next month (and quite a few of them will be arriving together rather than one by one... exciting!)

New Birds!
Tuesday July 5th
Can you guess what they are from the outlines, and what attracts them?
Clue: both of them are attracted by plants which 'fruit' into different variations, and the more different variations you have in your Garden at the same time,
the stronger the attraction power! (The Wildlife Guide will be updated with full details later this week!)

Woohoo, All Wildlife Now Animated!
Tuesday June 28th
We've been making a big effort to get all the 'little things' in Fairyland fixed up this month, and today, the final few Fairyland wildlife have been animated!
(Note: you only see the animation when you 'spot' them, and sometimes you'll need to wait a few seconds for the action to begin.)
So if you enjoy seeing Fairyland wildlife animations, there are now about 15 new ones to go out there and find :)
We've recently also made a couple of other small requested changes which are worthy of a mention here: collecting of free magical mushroom games is now much faster,
and you can now also see the names of your pots in your storage area popups :)

Double Organic Food: This is a brand new food option - a double portion of Organic food! (10 wildlife in 48 hours, for 20 Gold.)
This food is great for leaving out if you'll be away for a couple of days.
Superfood: Attracts wildlife super-fast (10 wildlife within 24 hours) and now comes with the extra bonus of guaranteed longest staying times!
So for example, an animal listed in the Wildlife Guide as staying for between 15 and 30 minutes will always stay for the maximum of that time
range (i.e. 30 minutes) on Superfood, thereby increasing the chances of it being spotted :)
Please note that the new timings will not apply to food currently in your Garden, only to new food purchased from now onwards.
Please remember that, as before, the more expensive food only makes wildlife come faster (and in the case of Superfood, also makes them stay for a little longer.)
However, more expensive food does not help you to attract better wildlife - only a good Garden setup will do this.
Thanks as always for all of your suggestions for general Fairyland improvements this month - we hope that you enjoy the new and improved food!

Postcards From A Fairyland Players' Meetup In London!
Thursday June 16th
Last Sunday, a group of Fairyland players got together in London, England for the first ever "International Fairyland Players' Meetup."
The event was a great success, with around 100 Fairies (and Elves) in attendance, some of whom must have had very tired wings having flown in from as far away as Canada, the U.S. and South Africa!
There were prizes awarded in categories such as Furthest Flown Fairy, Most Original Costume, and Best Dressed Fairy!

New Wildlife!
Wednesday June 15th
Three more of our marsupial friends from downunder have recently arrived in Fairyland! (It is believed that marsupials are attracted to Fairyland by the abundance of veggie treats that can be found here!)
They can only be attracted by higher-level Gardens (Levels 32+), but of course anyone in Fairyland can head out and try to spot them!
Of the new arrivals, the wombat is the more difficult one to attract. Not only is he rare, but you'll also need to figure out the very specific combination of plants he likes, and also deter the more common marsupials to increase your chances.
Have fun trying to figure out how to attract them... all will be revealed in the Wildlife Guide after a few days!

News (1)
Friday June 10th
One suggestion we've received this month is to make Fairyland News a little more prominent, as not everyone remembers to check here regularly.
Great news - you can now keep up to date with all the latest Fairyland happenings much more easily with our new "News Alert" feature, which tells you how many unread News stories there have been since you last read them! (In fact, you've probably already noticed this new feature today... it probably brought you here to read about it! :)

'Back To Basics' Month: It's Time For A Vote!
Thursday June 9th
One popular request in this month's call for suggestions about the little ways we can improve Fairyland for you has been to reduce all alerts (which are given by some types of wildlife before they feed) to a maximum of 30 minutes, the same as the butterflies.
We'd like to put this suggestion to the vote before we go ahead, to check that it's what the majority of Fairylanders want... so please check your newsfeed or the Fairyland Page to have your say!
If the majority of Fairylanders agree that this will make the game better overall, then we will make this change sometime tomorrow! (Friday)
Update: The vote was a resounding 'Yes', and as of right now, all wildlife feeding 'alerts' are now 30 minutes maximum! (Note: There may be a few cases of 'disappearing alerts' for the first 30 minutes after this change, due to 1-hour alerts being shortened, but those wildlife will still be coming!)

Guess The Critter!
Wednesday June 8th
New 'regular' wildlife will be arriving in Fairyland this month,
beginning this Friday with this little guy... can you guess what he is?
It's certainly a very difficult one, but if you can manage to guess correctly then that's a big clue to the type of plant you'll need to grow to attract him! (Note: it needs to be ready for harvest, so you may not be able to attract him right away on Friday if you don't already have one growing, but if you can guess correctly and have already unlocked the seed then you can get a head-start by planting one today!)

Thanks For All The Suggestions!
Tuesday June 7th
We've had a great response to our call for suggestions this month on the 'little things' which we could do to make Fairyland better for you. Thanks to everyone who has shared their ideas with us so far! You may have noticed that we've already made a start on implementing some of them, with the first couple of changes being released today:
You can now easily see when a Garden was last watered as soon as you enter or refresh it, which should make things much easier if you like to time your sprinkles so they're not too soon after the last person watered. You can now purchase Diamond Dust, Gold Dust etc in the larger quantity of 25
Please continue to share your suggestions with us (on our suggestions forum, or directly with the developers using the "contact" link at the foot of the page) and we'll try to get a good number of 'little Fairyland improvements' made this month :)

Fairyland Goes 'Back To Basics' This Month!
Wednesday June 1st
For the month of June, Fairyland will be going 'back to basics'!
What does this mean? Well, instead of releasing any major new features this month (like the recent butterflies & caterpillars), we've decided to dedicate a full month to improving the existing game based on your feedback :)
More new wildlife will still be arriving this month too of course, and the feedback we've received indicates that many of you would like to see a few more of the 'regular' wildlife next (i.e. ones which stick around for a while, and are attracted to the regular level-up flowers.) Great news - a few of these will be along later this month :)

May's Hummingbird Has Arrived!
Tuesday May 24th
May has been a busy month in Fairyland with all the new Butterfly and Caterpillar arrivals. But at long last, May's hummingbird has arrived - the Violet Sabrewing!
Like all the hummingbirds, you'll first need to spend time collecting the required seeds before you can attract it to your Garden.
Be sure to read information in the Wildlife Guide carefully, and remember that the first flower listed for each hummingbird is its favourite, a fact you can use to increase your chances of attracting more Violet Sabrewings ahead of their competitors.
Good luck!

Fairyland Trivia Question Winners!
Thursday May 12th
Our very first Fairyland Trivia question was posted today, with a 500 Gold prize for the first correct answer and another 500 Gold for one other randomly selected correct answer.
The question was:
What was the very first seasonal plant available in Fairyland?
Quite a tough little question to start with, since it was more than two and a half years ago now. But long-time Fairylanders may recall that way back in October 2008 we first released the Pink Ribbon Plant!

Congratulations to everyone who got that one right, and special congratulations go to Amanda and Tanillow (who posted the correct answer first) and Emily and Darby O' Gill (who were randomly selected as the other prize-winning correct answer.) Both of you are now 500 Gold better off than you were a few minutes ago :)

New 30-Minute Butterfly Alerts!
Wednesday May 11th
New 30-Minute Butterfly Alerts!Wednesday May 11thThanks for all of your recent feedback about Fairyland's new Caterpillars and Butterflies, it sounds like a lot of fun is being had with them! However we've received a number of comments that some of you have been finding them just a little too much of a challenge, and the most popular suggestion so far has been to reduce the "warning time" which butterflies give before feeding (they currently flutter around a Garden for anything up to an hour before feeding.)
So, we've had a quiet word with the butterflies, and they've kindly agreed to now flutter around a Garden for no more than 30 minutes before they feed, exactly as many Fairylanders have suggested :) This shorter warning time does of course slightly increase the chances of them being missed entirely, but it also makes them considerably easier to spot feeding if you're lucky enough to stumble across one fluttering around :)

Please remember however that the butterflies and caterpillars are intended to be a long-term challenge (many Fairylanders had been requesting something a little more challenging for a while), so you won't just be able to speed through them all one after the other, and will often need to pause for a while to stock up on seeds. But if you still find that the butterflies are not really your "thing", remember that they're only one small part of the game, and are completely optional... and in Fairyland, there's always something else exciting and new just around the corner :)
Thanks again for helping us to improve Fairyland for you... and happy butterfly spotting!

Final Bunny Hunt Total!
Monday May 9th
With daffodils no longer plantable and very few still flowering in Gardens, it's time to call an end to the 2011 Great Fairyland Bunny Hunt and announce the overall Bunny Hunt total (and next year's target!)
"Drum roll, please..."
This year, we managed an impressive 430,460 Bunnies spotted, smashing last year's
total of 402,201 by quite some margin (and in less time too!)
Big congratulations to all who participated!
So there's our target for next year, when we'll also be jazzing up the Bunny Hunt to make it a little more exciting, and hopefully we'll smash that total once again :)

Test Your Fairyland Knowledge For Gold!
Sunday May 8th
Each week, we have been randomly choosing one lucky Fairylander from everyone who has 'liked' the app to win 1000 Gold.
We've decided to make this a little more fun, and some weeks we will now post a question which tests your Fairyland knowledge instead!
The 1000 Gold reward will be divided into 2, with 500 Gold awarded to the first correct answer, and 500 Gold to one other randomly selected correct answer.
We will post the questions on different days and at different times each week, so you'll never know when we'll next post a question, and everyone will have an equally random chance of getting there first. (The questions should appear in your newsfeed, assuming you have 'liked' Fairyland, and haven't hidden Fairyland posts from your newsfeed.) The first question will appear sometime this coming week... good luck!

Send A Mother's Day Bouquet!
Friday May 6th
Many countries around the world celebrate Mother's Day this Sunday, and your requests have been heard - special Mother's Day bouquets of flowers can now be sent in Fairyland!
Simply visit the Gift Shoppe (by clicking the gift icon at the end of the row of buttons your Garden) and you can send a beautiful bouquet!
Remember that anyone can receive these gifts (whether they're already on Fairyland or not) and they're completely free, so you can send them to all the deserving mothers you know out there! Since Mother's Day is on different dates in different countries, we will be making these available on more dates in the future (or we may just make them available permanently, if that seems like the best way to do it.) Note: These bouquets are just for gifting and growing and looking nice - they don't attract any wildlife, or have any other special effects, although you do get to keep the nice vase which they come in :)

'Like' Fairyland To Have Your Say!
Thursday May 5th
Our forums are a great place for leaving feedback for Fairyland's developers and for letting us know what you'd like to see in the app in the future.
However it's sometimes difficult for us to get a true feeling of what everyone thinks by reading the feedback on our forums, as only a small percentage of players actively leave feedback for us there. On some topics, we really want to try to get feedback from as many of you as possible.
Facebook have recently introduced a great little feature called Facebook Questions which helps us do exactly this. We can now post a question out to everyone who has 'liked' Fairyland and ask you to share your opinion with us by voting. Everyone gets a vote, and you can see the results in real-time as they roll in!
All you need to do is ensure that you have 'liked' the Fairyland app and you'll then see our questions in your newsfeed whenever we post one.
Our first question, which we posted yesterday, is below (note: this is just a screenshot - you'll need to check your newsfeed or go to the mainFairyland page to actually vote!)

Mystical Butterflies!
Tuesday May 3rd
New Wildlife has arrived in Fairyland today - mystical butterflies! However, attracting these beautiful creatures to your Garden is not quite as simple as planting a flower or two and leaving some food out...
Like all butterflies, Fairyland's mystical butterflies start out life as cute little caterpillars, and your task is to use your gardening and wildlife spotting skills to help those caterpillars become butterflies!
All the information you need to get started is in the Wildlife Guide under the 'Butterflies' tab. It really is important to read all of the information given before you start (especially the part about how to get a caterpillar to form its chrysalis in your Garden!)

Along with the new Wildlife, a new Magical Mushroom has also arrived - the Supershroom! You will need this to attract caterpillars, however it also has the rather nice side-effect of temporarily deterring all mice/mallards/dragons etc from your Garden (so even if you're not interested in attracting caterpillars & butterflies, you can still exchange your seeds for Supershrooms to help you attract some of the other rare wildlife in Fairyland :)
Introductory Offer: When we release new things in Fairyland, we sometimes make them 'free' for a few days to allow everyone to get to grips with how they work without wasting any valuable items (in this case, the jewel seeds you have been collecting.) Therefore, the newSupershrooms and Butterpillaflora flowers are completely free for the first three days :)
We really hope you enjoy this new little challenge - it will certainly take time to attract all of the mystic butterflies, but a lot of fun should be had and new friends made along the way - and that's what Fairyland's all about :)

Bunny Hunt : Mission Accomplished!
Sunday May 1st
Great news - we just broke last year's Easter-Bunny-spotting total of 401,201! What will this year's final total be? We'll post that in about a week, when all daffodils are done!
Congratulations to everyone who took part this year, by maintaining daffodil Gardens and going out spotting the little fluffy fellas... we actually started the Bunny Hunt a week later than last year (about 2 weeks before Easter instead of 3) which makes this achievement all the more impressive!
There were also a total of 21 extra-lucky 1000-Gold bunnies spotted this year (11 of which were spotted today - the 400,000th Bunny, and the 401,201st to 401,210th Bunnies all carried 1000 Gold) - were you lucky enough to find one of these?!
Next year, we'll be re-vamping the Bunny Hunt to give it something a bit different, and hopefully we will smash the record yet again!
Now, kick back and enjoy some nice relaxed Gardening before the new Wildlife hits Fairyland on Tuesday :)

New Wildlife (Update)
Saturday April 30th
As you already know, new wildlife will be arriving in Fairyland very soon! However we are a couple of days behind schedule due to Fairyland's developer (Mike) having spent a large chunk of last week's development time in bed with a particularly unpleasant case of man-flu :( But don't worry - we are very close to being ready and they should be released into the wild by Tuesday... apologies for this unexpected delay. A little extra info about the new wildlife - they will be available for everyone to start on together, regardless of your current Garden or Wildlife Level. However, if you want to get started the moment they are released, then you will need to have already saved up a few 'Forest Jewel' seeds - particularly Forest Ambers/Sunlights (which are relatively easy to collect, being dropped by every 10th 'average' rarity wildlife you spot) and Forest Rubies (which are also easy to collect, being dropped by every 10th 'very common' wildlife you spot, such as mice, mallards etc.) You won't actually be planting these seeds in your Garden to grow the usual rainforest plants, instead you will be exchanging them for brand new plants (one of which has some extra special powers which we think you'll like a lot!)
In other news, we're now very close to beating last year's overall Bunny Hunt total - just a few thousand bunnies to go! (If you're still attracting Bunnies, remember that the very last day for planting daffodils is Monday.)

Bunny Hunt Update!
Saturday April 23rd
We're approaching the final week of the 2nd Annual Great Fairyland Bunny Hunt! Daffodils can only be sent until Monday, and can then only be planted for a further week before they expire for good. With over 320,000 Bunnies spotted so far, we're doing pretty well... but there's still a way to go to beat last year's final tally of 401,201 bunny sightings!
Remember that shortly after as the Bunny Hunt is over, exciting new wildlife will be arriving in Fairyland... what better incentive could there be to reach our target as soon as possible!
If you are not currently participating by attracting the Easter Bunny to your Garden, here's that link one final time to get yourself a Daffodil (and remember to leave out some Veggies on a low platter too!) Earth Day - April 22nd
Wednesday April 20th
Earth Day 2011 is on April 22nd, and Fairyland's Earth Flower can now be gifted/grown once again!
The Earth Flower does not attract any wildlife, however it does look very pretty in the Garden, and more importantly contributes the most out of any Fairyland plant towards the 'rainforest protection' cause we support - 10 sq ft of rainforest is protected for every Earth Flower harvested, which really adds up if everyone grows one! Better still, Earth Flowers don't take long to grow and they're completely free!
So send a few to friends, grow a couple yourself, and we can have a very real effect this Earth Day!
If you have friends who might enjoy a game where they can help save the rainforests while they play, then this time of year is a great opportunity to introduce them to Fairyland - simply send them an Earth Flower to start their Garden with!
You can find out more about Earth Day here, about the rainforest protection cause we support here, and you can see information about all our donations to date here.

We're well over half way towards beating last year's total of 401,201 Easter Bunnies spotted in Fairyland - the current total is over 200,000 already!
Will we make it by next Sunday? Or maybe even earlier? The challenge is on!
We also have news of a major new release in Fairyland towards the end of this month (you may already have noticed the new section in the Wildlife Guide entitled "Coming Soon")
But this will not just be some more-of-the-same wildlife, oh no! The beautiful creatures arriving later this month will bring their own unique new twist to the game
(which long-time Fairylanders will know is something we like to do from
time to time to keep everyone on their toes :)
The new wildlife will be arriving shortly after the Great Fairyland Bunny Hunt
has finished (we don't want to interrupt the Great Bunny Hunt!)...
so get spotting those Bunnies :)

Announcing The 2011
Great Fairyland Bunny Hunt!
Friday April 8th
Last year, 401,201 Easter Bunnies were spotted in the first ever Great Fairyland Easter Bunny Hunt!
Can we do any better this year? We've reset the Bunny counter, and the daffodils are ready to gift!
Easter Bunnies are common in gardens with flowering daffodils + veggies. They are worth 2 Diamonds + 5 Gold each when spotted, and you can also choose to publish a 'newsflash' to share how many bunnies have been spotted so far throughout Fairyland!
There are also a few extra bonus Gold rewards out there to be found - for example, every 1000th Bunny spotted towards the grand total (so the 1000th, 2000th, 3000th etc) will be worth 100 extra Gold, and there even a few Bunnies worth 1000 Gold out there to be found!
Happy Bunny Hunting!

April's Hummingbird Has Arrived!
Tuesday April 5th
April's hummingbird, the Violet Headed Hummingbird, has arrived in Fairyland today!
Like all the hummingbirds, you'll first need to spend time collecting the required seeds before you can attract it to your Garden.
The Violet Headed Hummingbird requires a little more attention to detail in your Garden setup than previous hummingbirds as there will be more competition for your food - be sure to read information in the Wildlife Guide carefully, and remember that the first flower listed for each hummingbird is its favourite.
Good luck!

Fairyland Becomes Elfland!
Friday April 1st
In the hope of attracting a few more male players to the game, we've decided that from noon today (UK time), Fairyland will officially be changing its name to "Elfland".
Nothing really changes in the game, although "Fairy Dust" will become known as "Elf Dust", and we will be adding a few 'naughty elf' features, such as the ability uproot your friends' plants!
We therefore encourage all Fairies to invite their male friends, brothers, husbands, boyfriends etc to create their own "Elf Garden" - click here to invite them now!
We hope that everyone will enjoy the all-new Elfland, however if you have any concerns about this change then please let us know before we go ahead!
Update (April 1st, 12 noon): Happy April Fools Day! (Sorry, we couldn't resist!)

New Star Dust Feature!
Monday March 28th
Star Dust is a small 'perk' we give to supporters of Fairyland as a little extra 'thank you'... And today it has a new use!
For a single sprinkle of Star Dust, you now have the option to keep all 'background effects' which you have grown in your Garden without needing to keep the plants which produced them :)
So you can grow your favourite background effects (using magical pots etc), sprinkle Star Dust to freeze this background, and then harvest the plants, leaving your Garden free once again to set up however you wish, but with your favourite background!
1 sprinkle of Star Dust will freeze your background for a full week, before it wears off and your Garden is returned to normal once again. (If you'd like to keep that same background going for even longer, you can simply re-sprinkle just before the previous sprinkle wears off.) The new 'Star Dust' icon is in the row of buttons just beneath your Garden.
We're really looking forward to seeing even more beautiful and unique Garden setups with this new Star Dust feature!
Special Bonus: For 1 week (Until April 4th), this feature is actually FREE to use and experiment with! (i.e. no Star Dust will be deducted when you use it :)

Freeze Background Effects - More Info
- Only 'background effects' will be frozen. Anything which is still attached to a plant cannot be frozen (an easy way to check this is by moving the plant left or right in your Garden - if the effect moves with it - for example, animated hearts on Loveflowers - then it is not a 'background effect' and so won't be frozen.) However, pretty skies, clouds, rain, snow, rainbows, flying pigs, witches, daisies, suns, moons etc can all be frozen :)
- If you freeze your background, then add a new effect, then this will not automatically become one of your 'frozen' effects (unless you sprinkle again, in which case all current effects will be frozen for 7 days.)
- Backgrounds do not have any effect upon wildlife attraction - they simply look nice :) Only while the effect-producing plant is still in your Garden will it have any attraction/deterrent powers.
- If you'd like to freeze the same background for longer than 7 days, simply re-sprinkle just before the 7 days is up, to give yourself another 7 days. (You'll notice that Star Dust actually lasts 7.5 days, giving you an extra half day to help ensure you don't accidentally miss it.)
- After freezing your background effects, the Star Dust icon will turn green to show that it's active. When there's less than 24 hours to go until it wears off, it turns red, as a warning in case you'd like to sprinkle again and extend for the next 7 days.
- To clarify: sprinkling twice at the same time does not give you 14 days of frozen background (you would still only get 7 days, and would waste a Star Dust!) You need to re-sprinkle just before the first sprinkle is due to wear off.

Grow An Earth Flower - For Earth Hour!
Thursday March 24th
Earth Hour is this Saturday, and people all over the world will be turning out their lights for an hour from 8:30pm - 9:30pm!
You can pledge your support for our planet in Fairyland too, with this Limited Edition Earth Flower, available for gifting now for free!
When Fully Grown (or Ready For Harvest), the Earth Flower will allow you to turn out the lights in your Garden for 1 hour at the time of your choosing - aim for 8:30pm on Saturday, your local time. (Please note that there's no special wildlife attracted to the Earth Flower, but it does look very nice in the Garden :)

Of course, the action of dimming your Fairyland Garden lights won't actually save any energy in itself, but this event is all about raising awareness of the effect we can all have as individuals by being more conscious of the energy we use and pledging to make small changes in our daily habits.
Fairyland is a truly global community, so it should be fun to see Gardens in different timezeones going dark at different times throughout the day!

Star Dust Special Offer!
Tuesday March 22nd
We're running a special offer on Gold purchases for the remainder
of this week: Every purchase of 3000 Gold between now and Saturday
will come with 16 Star Dust instead of 8!
Star Dust is an extra perk which we offer to Fairyland supporters as a little
extra 'thank you' for helping us to continue developing as an independent
and completely unique application long into the future :)
Star Dust is not essential for playing the game, but it does give you access to a few
exclusive 'special effects' (such as putting Zodiac stars up in the sky in your Garden)
and also Superfood (which brings wildlife to your Garden much faster.)
There will also be more Star Dust effects coming soon :)

Endangered Wildlife Alerts!
Monday March 21st
The Endangered Wildlife are naturally some of the most difficult to spot in Fairyland, however they have probably proven just a little too frustrating and random for many Fairylanders.
So after receiving great feedback about the 'early warning' given by Fairyland's Hummingbirds, and hearing suggestions that the Endangered Wildlife might consider doing something similar, they have now decided to develop a little early warning system of their own :)
Unfortunately, you won't see an Orangutan swinging through the trees on his way to your Garden (not just yet anyway!) But after watering, you may see a nice sparkling effect on a plate of food whenever some Endangered Wildlife is not too far away from it!

Supermoon Brings Magic To Fairyland!
Sunday March 20th
Any keen star-gazers out there will be aware that last night was a full moon. Not just any full moon however, but a Supermoon, reportedly the largest to be seen in almost 2 decades!

This event also seems to have caused something magical to happen in Fairyland, with one of the existing Magical Pots gaining new powers, which will be revealed only when the correct plant becomes Ready For Harvest in it! Which Garden will be the first to discover the correct magical pot/seed combination?!

Some Accounts Experiencing Errors Today
Friday March 18th
A number of people are experiencing errors today, for example when collecting friends' Gold, using Alchemy/Herbalism etc.
We have investigated the problem and found it to be a general Facebook issue, which is affecting many applications. However it only appears to be affecting some accounts, so you may not be experiencing any issues at all.
We have reported the problem to Facebook (along with many other developers) so we are hoping for it to be resolved soon. Apologies for the inconvenience caused in the meantime.

Leprechauns and Shamrocks!
Friday March 11th
If the rumours are to be believed, Leprechauns can be found in Fairyland around this time of year (Leprechauns are fairies, after all!)
According to the Wildlife Guide, they are attracted to Gardens which are growing Shamrocks in their hats (or maybe they just want their hats back!)
You can now start sending Shamrocks as free gifts to friends by the usual methods. Remember that you can also send them to friends who aren't on Fairyland yet (especially if you have any Irish friends who may appreciate one!)

March's Hummingbird Has Arrived!
Sunday March 6th
A new hummingbird will be arriving in Fairyland each month for the next few months, and March's hummingbird, the Broad Billed Hummingbird,
has decided to make its appearance today!
As with all of Fairyland's hummingbirds, you'll first need to spend time collecting the required seeds before you can attract them to your Garden.
Full details are in the wildlife Guide. Good Luck!

Return of the Original Rainbow Pot!
Saturday March 5th
Fairyland's original Rainbow Pot was first released a couple of years ago, and was a popular choice for brightening up Gardens all around Fairyland!
After receiving many requests, we've decided to offer it again as a Limited Edition for the next 2 weeks only!
Get yours now in the Limited Edition section of the Pot Shoppe, for the very reasonable price of 2 Forest Ruby Jewels each! (Forest Ruby Jewels are dropped by every 10th "very common" wildlife you spot - i.e. every 10th Field Mouse, White Mouse, Mallard etc.)
Please note that this is the only 'Limited Edition' pot which will become available for a second time. We're making an exception for this pot because Fairyland had no 'pot storage' feature back when it was first available. Also, please don't confuse it with the Magical Rainbow Cup recently released - this pot doesn't have any magical effect, it just looks nice :)

Some Small But Useful Improvements...
Thursday March 3rd
A couple more improvements have been made today, based on suggestions we've received from Fairylanders!
Remaining Growth Time: To help with your Garden planning, you can now see how far advanced plants are towards being 'ready for harvest' (a percentage is shown, and if you hover over that then you can also see the actual time remaining.)
Storage improvements: Your storage shelves can now hold 7 items each, and will magically arrange themselves so that pots of the same type are always found together :)
(Now if only self-tidying storage shelves existed in the real world.....!)

Intermittent Page Loading Problems
Monday February 28th
Apologies for the intermittent page loading problems which have been happening for the last few days. The issue is a Facebook one which is affecting a number of applications, and we are actively trying to get them to fix it as soon as possible!
If you experience a problem (for example, an error page, or a Garden not loading), please just hard-refresh the page (Ctrl-F5) and it should then be fine (at least until the next time it happens!)
We apologize for the inconvenience caused until this problem is resolved.

New Magical Pot!
Sunday February 27th
We've received many requests for the return of Fairyland's Rainbow Pot,
which was released briefly as a 'limited edition' a couple of years ago.
Great news - a brand new Rainbow Pot is now available in the Shoppe... and better still,
it's a Magical Pot, meaning that it also has a magical effect on one of the Fairyland
flowers (you'll need to discover which one!)
To find the new Rainbow Pots, visit the Pot Shoppe using the button in your Garden and click the 'Magical Pots' section. (All Magical Pots are available permanently, so there's plenty of time to save up your Diamonds if you don't have enough for it just yet!)

Spring Is On The Way...
And There's A New Mystery To Be Solved!
Friday January 28th
According to Fairyland folklore, when the Groundhog awakens from his winter hibernation and leaves his burrow to nibble on some tasty Veggies, it's a sign
that winter will soon be over and spring is just around the corner!
The Groundhog is attracted to any Garden in which the First Flower of Spring
is growing... you can send these as gifts to friends by the usual methods:
Note: After a particularly cool and snowy Fairyland winter, the Groundhog is a little harder
to awaken than usual this year, meaning you may need more than one 'First Flower of Spring'
in your Garden to help attract him. However, he now carries 4 Diamonds for every time he's spotted, and also drops the much sought-after Forest Emerald seed for every 10th time you spot him :)
Finally, we know that many Fairylanders enjoy the occasional mystery to solve, so there's
also a new hidden surprise waiting to be discovered involving this seasonal flower -
can you figure out the Garden setup required to reveal it? Happy Gardening!

General Game Improvements
Monday January 17th, 2011
A major new category of wildlife is being released into Fairyland today, and ahead of this, we have introduced a few improvements to some aspects of the game,
based on your feedback and our observations of things which we haven't got quite right yet...
Accuracy of Timings:
All of the times shown in Fairyland (for wildlife arrivals etc) are shown in "days & hours", "hours & minutes" or just "minutes" (the seconds are never displayed.) This led to some confusion with some players wondering why they hadn't spotted an animal when it appeared that they had watered at the exact same time it arrived (the reason is of course that they watered a few seconds before it arrived - the seconds were just not being displayed.) We have now changed this, so that for all times less than 1 hour, the seconds are now also shown - so the times you see will now be "days & hours", "hours & minutes" or "minutes & seconds" (note that the seconds are truncated again as soon as the time is more than an hour.) With the new seconds display, it's fun to see just how quickly some wildlife gets spotted! Reporting Of Wallposts: Unfortunately, a few Fairylanders have reported to us that they have received unpleasant messages from other players, sometimes for simply spotting wildlife that the other person was hoping to spot in a Garden. We do not tolerate any unfriendly messages being sent within the application for any reason, so we wanted to remind everyone that every post in Fairyland has a 'report' link next to it, which you should use to report any inappropriate messages confidentially to us. We will then deal with the problem as appropriate, and you need do nothing else (except delete the post / block that person if you wish.) We have recently improved our behind-the-scenes moderation system to help us deal with reported problems much more effectively, to keep Fairyland fun and friendly for everyone :) |
Blanket Watering:
"Blanket watering" is a term coined by Fairylanders for the practice of watering all plants in a Garden (often one which is set up for sought-after wildlife) and then keeping them watered in order to block others from getting a chance at spotting wildlife there. We receive regular complaints about this - some people were even accusing others of using 'bots' to blanket water for them! We have therefore decided to resolve this problem for good by removing the ability to blanket water a Garden and block everyone else from watering. Anyone can now water any plant in any Garden whenever they wish to do so. Therefore, spotting much sought-after wildlife is now all down to timing/intuition/luck (as well as knowing where some of the quieter, but well set-up Gardens are!) rather than having enough Gold to 'blanket water' or the fastest computer/mouse-clicking finger :) These changes should improve the game for everyone and help to reduce many of the problems we currently see being reported. |
New Background, New Wildlife, New Fun!
Monday January 17th, 2011
(repost from the wildlife guide and News page)
Hummingbirds should prove a lot of fun to spot, since when someone discovers that one is due in a Garden very soon, the news can be shared with friends so those who are online
can head to the Garden and take turns trying to spot it :) Only one type of hummingbird has arrived in Fairyland so far, but look out for more arriving over the coming weeks...
(Of course, attracting/spotting hummingbirds is entirely optional, so if the new twist they add to the game is not for you, then you can just stick with the regular wildlife as before :)
Enjoy!

Hummingbirds
Hummingbirds are unique among Fairyland's wildlife because they can be seen humming around a Garden shortly before feeding!
If you see one humming around in the background of a Garden (you'll only see it after watering) then that doesn't count as a 'spot', but you can be sure that it will be feeding there in less than an hour. So you may decide to stay in the Garden and water a little later to try and spot it feeding, or you may like to alert your Fairyland Friends that a hummingbird will shortly be feeding in that Garden, so they can try spotting it too! Like the regular rainforest wildlife, Hummingbirds also drop 'Enchanted' Jewel of the Forest seeds (one dropped by every 10th spotted), giving you another way of earning these very rare seeds :) The challenge with hummingbirds however is that they are some of the fastest wildlife in Fairyland, staying a maximum of 2 minutes when feeding. However, the 'advance warning' they give should be of great assistance to the hummingbird spotter!

New Magical Pots!
Saturday January 8th, 2011
Two new 'Magical Pots' are available in the Pot Shoppe from today,
in exchange for Diamonds.
The White Marshmallow is available in the lower Garden Levels and
the Old Boot is available in the higher Garden Levels.
Magical Pots are a little different to regular pots - they each hold a
magical secret which is only revealed when the correct plant is grown in them... but which are the correct plants for these pots? (Hint: The Old
Boot's effect can only be seen when the White Marshmallow has already worked its magic!)

Tuesday December 28th
New plants have arrived in Fairyland today - New Year Flowers! Share them with friends, and wait for the new year surprise!
Note: A recent Facebook change means that the 'Share The Link' option (to the right) will only be visible in the newsfeeds of friends who already have the Fairyland app, so by sharing the link, you
won't be bothering friends who don't already play the app :)
We'd like to wish everyone a very happy and magical new year!

Friday December 24th
The Fairyland Team would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season, and to thank you for continuing to make Fairyland the uniquely magical and enjoyable place that it is!
We're currently working hard on bringing some super-exciting new ideas to life in Fairyland in 2011 (many of which have been inspired by suggestions posted on our Forums)... and there's even one more little surprise still to come before the end of this year!

Some Links Not Working (Update: Now Fixed!)Tuesday December 15th
Unfortunately, a general FB issue has caused some of the links in Fairyland (and other apps) to break today, meaning that you may get the occasional "page not found" message from your browser, or get redirected to your homepage, when you click certain links. We are in the process of implementing a workaround to the problem, and we have already fixed many of the important ones so the app is very much still usable. However, please be aware that you may still come across the occasional broken link here and there until either (a) we manage to work through and fix them all individually or (b) Facebook fix the problem which caused it - whichever of these things happens first! Apologies for the inconvenience this causes. Update: This problem should now be fixed... if you find any remaining problems, please report them to us in the Bug Reports section at the bottom of the Forums page, thanks! |

Spooky Happenings

Happy Halloween!
The witches will fly for only 3 days after a Halloween Plant bears fruit, so if you'd like them around for a little longer, you should
begin growing a new Halloween Flower late tomorrow (they can be planted right up until the end of October, but no later.)

Update: And if you want witches for even longer, we also added the ability to sprinkle Star Dust on the 'Ready For Harvest' Halloween Plant, which will bring them back
(along with the ghostly wildlife) for another week! (You could even keep your Halloween Plant in your Garden, and bring them back later in the year!)

Hopefully the issue will be fixed soon, and we will then be able to re-enable this option. Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Faded Posts
Thursday September 30th
If you have very old posts on your wall (over a month old) then you will notice that they have now become 'faded'. We do occasionally delete old posts (over a month old) from the app, since huge numbers of posts build up over time, and occasionally purging the old ones helps us to keep Fairyland running well. The introduction of the 'faded posts' is therefore just a gentle reminder that these posts are old enough to be removed, so if there are any of them which you want to keep, for example useful notes to yourself, be sure to take a copy! |
Libra Zodiac Flowers Now Available!
Tuesday September 21st
'Libra' Zodiac seeds are now available for sending as gifts to friends via the usual methods... ...but what type of Wildlife will be attracted when they're Ready For Harvest? (Hint: Leave either Bird Mix or Veggies out on a low table for them!) New Black & White Mushroom PotsSaturday September 19th
The final Limited Edition pots this month are some rather nice Black and White mushroom pots, available now in the 'Limited Editions' section of the Pot Shoppe. If you see one you like, be sure to get it before the end of the month! |
Albino Wildlife!
Thursday September 16th
Some Fairylanders have recently reported sightings of rare Albino Wildlife in Fairyland - and apparently, they're dropping fairly large amounts of Diamonds!
Only a few types of Albino Wildlife are currently visiting - which ones have you seen so far?
The Wildlife Guide will be updated with more details soon!

Wildlife Guide Tidy-Up
Tuesday September 14th
It's not a huge change, but you may have noticed that we re-organized the Wildlife Guide today, grouping and ordering wildlife by the Garden Level at which you can first attract them. This should help to make things a little more intuitive for newer Gardeners, and also gives us a little more space for adding new wildlife categories in the future :)
Apologies if you find the new layout a bit disorienting initially..

New 'Magical Pots'!Friday September 3rd
A new section has opened in the Pot Shoppe - Magical Pots! Each pot appearing in this section holds a magical secret waiting to be discovered. These pots become unlocked at different Garden Levels, and they are only available in exchange for a reasonably high amount of Diamonds. This means that you may not be able to get them all right away - you may need to level-up some more, or collect and save a few more Diamonds! You may recognize one of the pots in there - the Sundial has made a re-appearence, and will now be permanently available as a Magical Pot :) And of course, with our Black & White theme this month, a Black Pot and a White Pot are also available (if you have reached the appropriate Garden Level)... what secrets do they hold?? |
Black & White Month in Fairyland!Wednesday September 1st
For no particular reason (other than a couple of random suggestions we read on our Suggestions board), we have decided to have a Black & White themed month in Fairyland! Throughout September, expect various Black & White themed things to happen/appear...Starting things off, some simple Black & White versions of recent limited edition pots have been made and are available in the Shoppe in exchange for your spare Diamonds/Seeds (maybe a couple of those Black pots would look good in a Halloween Garden in a couple of months :) More B & W coming very soon! |
A Short Fairyland Tale...Friday August 27th
For some Friday fun, one of the speedier Fairyland wildlife decided to challenge one of the slowest Fairyland wildlife to a race, thinking he would win easily. But in his foolish arrogance, he decided to stop halfway for a nap... and lost the race! But which two wildlife were they?? (They're both newly animated today, and if you spot them between now and Sunday, they will drop a little bonus Gold too :) |
Virgo Flowers Now Available!Sunday August 22nd
'Virgo' gifts are now available for sending as gifts to friends via the usual methods... Can you guess what type of Wildlife it will attract when Ready For Harvest? (Clue: Leave some Bird Mix out for them to eat!) |
New Limited Edition Pots
Wednesday August 11th
A handful of new Limited Edition pots are available in the Pot Shoppe from today - this month, they've gone all bright and flowery! These eggcups were originally discarded by humans but happily rescued by the Recycling Fairies who painted them lovingly with flowery designs before putting them out for sale in the Shoppe! |
Fairyland Says "G'Day" To Its First Marsupials!
Sunday August 1st
Look out for the first Marsupials arriving in Fairyland today!
The Marsupials are attracted to the green and gold colours of the 'Aureus' flowers.
These are only available for planting in the highest Garden Levels,
but of course everyone can enjoy trying to spot them while working up to those levels!

Lions and Unicorns, Oh My!
Tuesday July 20th
'Leo' gifts are now available for sending as gifts to friends via the usual methods...(For anyone who likes to plant their Zodiac flowers at the exact right moment as we enter the new sign, we have now made them available for sending a couple of days early, giving you chance to receive one in good time!) And a new unicorn may also be showing up in a few gardens within the next few days... check the Wildlife Guide for details!
HINT: It's actually attracted to a new enchanted mushroom called the Enchanted Black Mushroom. It attracts the Black Unicorn. You need to reach Legendary III (15,000 diamonds earned) to plant this level of mushroom. Good luck!

Fairyland On Your FB Profile!
Tuesday July 13th
Facebook is very soon discontinuing the small app 'Profile Boxes' which you can put on your FB profile (in the left hand column.) So if you have one of these for Fairyland, it will sadly soon be gone :( However, something even better is available - you can feature your Fairyland Garden as a tab on your FB profile :) If you haven't done so yet, you should definitely check it out! |
New Rare & Limited Edition Pots!Thursday July 8th
Tired of the same old Garden pots? Great news - a new range of Limited Edition Pots is now available in the Pot Shoppe, which you can buy in exchange for items you have collected on your Fairyland travels (Diamonds, Forest Jewels etc.) These new pots are true Limited Editions - each is only available for a limited time, and after that time has passed, it will never be available for purchase again. There's something for everyone in this new Limited Editions section, from moderately priced pots (but not so cheap that you don't need to work for them!), to super-rare 'Premium' pots, for the more dedicated Gardener to work towards. If you have any suggestions for pot designs you'd like to see added to the Limited Editions section in the future, please leave them on the "Ideas & Suggestions" board on our forums page... they may just appear in the Shoppe some day soon! |
"Wildlife Spotted" ListFriday July 2nd
Just a minor change to announce today - the count of "Wildlife Spotted in other Gardens" (shown on your Fairyland Profile page) is now visible only to your friends. Non-friends can still see which wildlife you have spotted, but not how many.We have also switched to a grid format for displaying this information, after we received reports that some wildlife lists were becoming too long for the page! (This is a slight tweak of a change made earlier today, based upon feedback received - thanks for the suggestions!) |
New Macaw DeterrentSunday June 27th
A small but potentially useful bit of news today - the Macaws of Fairyland have recently developed an aversion to 'fully grown' Nestflower herbs, meaning that you can now help deter them from your Garden with any fully grown (but not ready for harvest) herb. The Wildlife Guide has been updated accordingly. This information will probably be of most use when setting up your Garden for those super-rare Endangered wildlife! |
Solstice Happenings In FairylandMonday June 21st
The Solstice seems to have brought about some curious behaviour from Fairyland's mythological wildlife... If you're lucky enough to spot one of them in a Garden from today, keep a close eye on it and see what happens! (You will only see this when you actually spot one. If you just view one which was previously spotted then nothing will happen, since that would of course just be a picture of it rather than the real thing ;) When yours is ready for harvest, remember to leave some food out (any type of food, low feeding table), and see what it brings! Finally, with so many Gardens reaching 'Legendary' and wanting to continue on to even greater things, there are now some new 'Bonus' Wildlife Levels beyond Legendary. The first of these ("Legendary II") is now available for anyone who has already reached Legendary. More of these levels will gradually become available over the coming months, with each new level featuring a new Magical Mushroom to grow, and a new type of Unicorn to attract! Happy Solstice! |

Sweet Toothed Dragons!
Wednesday June 9th
Since the arrival of delicious Tropical Fruits in Fairyland, one or two Dragons have been venturing into Gardens to see what all the fuss was about. So far, none of them have been so adventurous as to take a nibble... at least not until today! A few of the more adventurous Dragons have suddenly developed something of a sweet tooth, and can now sometimes be found nibbling on those tasty Tropical Fruits!
But Fairyland Dragons, being kindly Dragons, will only ever take fruit if they see that a mouse might otherwise have got there first. They would never take fruit ahead of any of the Rainforest wildlife, especially the Endangered ones. So for you, the Fairyland Gardener, this means less mice in Rainforest Gardens, while keeping the exact same chance of attracting those Endangered wildlife (which are of course still extremely rare, requiring a very dedicated Garden setup!) So next time you bump into a Dragon nibbling some fruit, remember to be nice to him... he just chased away a mouse :)

Wildlife Order Reversed in Popup
Tuesday June 8th
We made a small change today to reverse the order of the wildlife displayed on feeding table popups, so the most recent visitor is now displayed at the top of the list. This is in response to comments that the new 10-feeding "Superfood" often made it necessary to scroll the page to see details of the most recent wildlife visit (which is usually the one of most interest.) Thanks for the feedback about this problem, we hope this alteration makes things a little easier (one you have adjusted to it!)

Wildlife Guide Improvements
Monday June 7th
Based on feedback we've received, a couple of small but hopefully effective improvements have been made to Fairyland's Wildlife Guide today. First, we have restricted the 'advertising' walls so everyone must wait at least 15 minutes between posting Garden ads in the Guide. This will ensure fairness to all who want to advertise their Garden, and should also help to improve the overall quality of Garden advertisements by encouraging careful thought about which section to post in. So for example, if someone has a high-level Garden attracting the "Rockoon", and also a fully grown Pink Cap mushroom which happens to be mildly attracting Dragons too, then they should really only be posting on the Rockoon page, leaving the Dragon pages free for newer gardeners who are desperately trying to attract their first. Also, we have now included the information about which 'Jewel of the Forest' is dropped by each type of wildlife, which was previously missing from the guide.
If you have any further suggestions for how we can improve any aspect of Fairyland, please do let us know on the "Ideas & Suggestions" board on our Forums page. Thanks!
