Ever thought about what wildlife is attracted by a certain garden set-up?
You can check it on the wildlife calculator http://myarduinoprojects.com/wildlifecalculator/index.html |
Building Your Nest
To build a nest in this tree, you will need to attract 5 different types of birds to your Garden. (Any 5 Adult Birds except the Cuckoo)
Birds, Hummingbirds, Griffin, King Penguin, Phoenix, Puffin, Ping-Ponguin, Mallard,
Festive Mallard, Ghostly Mallard, Lovebirds, Pink Flamingo, Peace Dove, Cardinal, Robin, Snowy Owl, Zodiac birds
Every 5th Adult bird of EACH type which is spotted in your Garden will add a little more to your nest, until it is completed.
(Also if the FIRST in the garden is spotted)
You can build multiple nests if you wish, and store them in your storage area when completed (it's a good idea to build more than one if you can).
Every adult bird in Fairyland can help you build a nest. Nests that are built 100% by Hummingbirds will never need repairing.
You can now store any nests which need repairing, and then repair them at a more convenient time
(for example, overnight is a popular time to set your Garden up for nest repairs!)
ALFF TIP ~ When you have a filled birdbath, why not put out a nesting tree too?
Every 5th or 10th bird spotted still counts towards building your nests without having to set up your garden for them.
ALFF TIP #2 ~ Try to build at least one indestructible nest by building one with ONLY hummingbirds ~
The nest will NEVER need repairing and comes in very handy when doing the Easter Baby Chicks, Baby Seahorses or Chocolate Bunnies.

What hatches from the eggs?
All year round - Baby Chicks
Birds will only nest and lay eggs in a nest which they have helped to build.
So for example, a wren will only nest and lay an egg in a nest which another wren helped to build.
Decide which chick you'd like to try for first, and attract the adult bird to
your Garden while the completed nest is sitting there empty. Every 10th of that bird spotted in your Garden
will nest in your empty nest (remember, the nest must have been part-built by that same type of bird!)
When it's nesting in your Garden, the bird will have a task for you to complete before it will lay an egg (speak to the bird to ask it about the task - different birds will have different tasks for you.)As soon as you complete the task, the bird will lay its egg, and you will then need to leave the correct food out for the chick (low feeding table) and it will soon hatch and the chick can be spotted.

Finally, watch out for Cuckoos! They are attracted to, and will nest in any Empty Nest!
You can either deter them (with a FG Butterpillaflora flowers) or shoo them away
if an unwanted one decides to nest in your Garden

Seasonal - Easter Chicks
While hunting the Easter Bunny, keep an empty nest in your Garden... then when you spot a bunny (in another garden) he will drop an egg for you.
Incubate this egg in your nest, leaving some Bird Mix out in your Garden at the same time (on a low table) and it will soon hatch!
Different coloured eggs hatch different coloured chicks, so for example the red egg only hatches red chicks, but the violet egg randomly hatches any colour chick (with equal chance.) Please see the Seasonal section in the Wildlife Guide for full details (the chicks even drop triple seeds for every 10th spotted - great news if you're collecting for Supershrooms etc!)
The 1st egg in the nest has spots, 2nd egg has hearts, 3rd egg has flowers,
4th egg has butterflies and 5th egg has stars.
Once the 5th egg has hatched the nest will need to be repaired.

Seasonal - Baby ~Seahorse - (Garden must be underwater)
While hunting the Easter Bunny, keep an empty nest in your Garden... then when you spot a bunny (in another garden)
he will drop an egg for you.
Incubate this egg in your nest, leaving some Veggies out in your Garden at the same time (on any table) and it will soon hatch!
Different coloured eggs hatch different coloured baby seahorses, so for example the red egg only hatches red baby seahorses, but the violet egg randomly hatches any colour baby seahorse (except rainbow) (with equal chance.) Please see the Seasonal section in the Wildlife Guide for full details (the baby seahorses even drop underwater toadstool seeds.

Seasonal - Chocolate Bunnies
The Easter Bunny will very occasionally drop a Chocolate Egg instead of the usual decorated ones!
However this only happens extremely rarely (there's only about a 1 in 100 chance that the egg will be Chocolate.)
The new White and Dark Chocolate Eggs are harder to find than the regular ones. They hatch into White Chocolate Bunnies
and Dark Chocolate Bunnies (kind of like Albino and Melanistic Chocolate Bunnies!)
If you do manage to get a Chocolate Egg in your nest, it will attract the Chocolate Bunny to your Garden, and will continue to attract it
even after it has "hatched"! Chocolate Bunnies also drop Chocolate Eggs (for every 10th one you spot in other gardens), which means
that this will become the best way to find Chocolate Eggs, once there are enough Gardens attracting the Chocolate Bunnies.
To find a White or Dark Chocolate Egg for your nest, there are 3 possibilities:
Importantly, White/Dark Chocolate Eggs do not continue attracting Bunnies after they have hatched, which makes the White/Dark Chocolate Bunnies much rarer than the regular Chocolate Bunnies, and more of a challenge.
