The New Year Flower does not attract any wildlife so will not affect your current garden setup... but it will bring a beautiful firework display to your Garden in time to celebrate the new year.
Also, just a reminder that if you have built a Festive Tree this year, you can now open the gift under it! (It's best opened as soon as possible as this particular gift expires at the end of 2015.)
And finally, as you may already have seen, Fairyland has an exciting new long-term challenge arriving about 1 week into the new year! This is something a little different to our previous "big" releases, and we've tried to incorporate as much of your previous feedback and suggestions as we can into this one, so we hope you will enjoy it :)

How it works
Each day throughout December, open the calendar door and behind it will be hiding one of the Fairyland Winter Wildlife.
You then have 12 hours before the door closes again, and during this time your quest is to spot this wildlife in other gardens - every one you spot will drop a lovely new pot for you as a gift!
There are 31 different pots to be collected in all - a different one each time you open the door. You can collect multiple of the same pot if you wish by spotting that day's wildlife multiple times within the 12 hour window.
Important: Before you go hunting, make sure you have some space available in your storage area, or you won't get the pot. The great news here is that we have increased the maximum number of shelves you can have in your storage area to 100 (previously 75), so you should have plenty of space for your nice new pot collection :)
Finally, you don't necessarily need to open a door every day, and you don't need to complete the quest every day if you don't want to (maybe you don't like that day's pot, for instance.) However it is of course nice if you try to open each door on the corresponding day of the month if possible.

If it's your first time decorating the tree, then you can find details about how to do it
after you have planted one in your Garden.
Then towards the end of December you'll be able to open the "Large Gift" under your completed tree and discover what's inside (important note: you need to plant and decorate a brand new tree to get this year's gift - if you continue with a partially completed tree from last year, then you will just get last year's gift again!)

Are you struggling to complete the Venus Flytrap challenge, or have you maybe already completed it?
Either way, there's some good news today! Completed (all-rainbow) Flytraps will now attract every colour of fly (previously, they attracted nothing.) So if you've completed the Flytrap challenge, and have not yet harvested your Flytrap, you can now help others complete theirs by leaving it out in your Garden and randomly attracting every colour of fly :)
This improvement came from a suggestion made on our forums, so thanks for your feedback and for helping to improve the game for everyone!

After planting, the Venus Flytrap will attract Flies to your Garden, and when spotted in your Garden, the Venus Flytrap will trap the fly in one of its 5 mouths!
But in Fairyland, the Flytrap doesn't actually eat the unfortunate Fly! Instead, it is released the
next time you spot the same colour Fly in another Garden. The mouth it was released from
will then change colour, and will start attracting the next colour Fly.
Progress through all the Fly colours, and the challenge is complete when you have made an "All-Rainbow" Venus Flytrap, trapping 5 Rainbow Flies (which you can then of course
release by harvesting the plant!)
Good luck!

They are only attracted (and will only steal Honey) when there is a Honeypot containing single-colour Honey, but without a "Honey Blossom" flower planted in it. They will not be attracted (and do not steal honey) if the Honeypot has a flower in it. They also require a 'Cumulus Albiflorus' flower somewhere in the Garden. See the Wildlife Guide for additional details about which types of Honey each of the Bears prefers!
Finally, Beehive Gifts will now be available in the Gift Shoppe for a little longer (until the end of September) to give you chance to attract the Bears.

Your Beehive will attract bees to your Garden - be sure to leave out some Wild Berries for them to feed on!
Every Bee spotted in your Garden will make some honey in your Beehive. When you have 5 lots of honey in your Beehive, it will be 100% full and can be harvested.
This will give you a pot full of lovely honey, into which you can plant beautiful Honey Blossom flowers. The type of honey in your hive will affect the colour of the Honey Blossom flower it grows - this then affects which type of bees are attracted to your Garden next.

All Daffodils give a small gift of Gold when harvested, so if you have space available
in your Garden, it's always worth growing a couple!
Daffodils of course attract the Easter Bunny. Remember to keep an empty "nest"
in your own Garden while hunting for him as he will drop a decorated egg for you whenever
you spot him in another garden, which will then incubate in your nest.
All Daffodils give a small gift of Gold when harvested, so if you have space available
in your Garden, it's always worth growing a couple!

It's the time of year again when the Leprechauns pay a visit to Fairyland, and they can be spotted around the Gardens mischeivously stealing the veggies which have been left out for Wildlife!

These new babies are born in exactly the same way as existing ones (using the birthstones) - but if you need a reminder of how these work, simply click here!
One of the most frequent suggestions we receive is for some new baby wildlife, and today marks the beginning of a new series - the Zodiac Babies!
These new babies are born in exactly the same way as existing ones (using the birthstones) - but if you need a reminder of how these work, simply click here!
Aquarius Zodiac Flower
When 'Ready For Harvest', this Zodiac flower will attract the Pelican to your Garden, who will drop an Amethyst Birthstone every 10th time you spot them in other Gardens.

You can then use these Birthstones to make babies in your Garden! Choose
which baby you would like to make, then attract the adult version of
that wildlife to your Garden, and every 10th spotted in your Garden will
plant a Birthflower in your empty Birthstone! (For full details of
this, please see the 'Babies' section of the Wildlife Guide.)
Finally, remember that after making 5 babies of one type in your Garden,
they will begin returning with their mothers as "Mother & Baby"
pairs, for which you can earn 100 Gold for spotting a Garden's first!

Topiary Trails!

As promised, those mysterious green seeds you found under your tree this year can now be planted... and they bring with them a brand new long-term challenge and Wildlife series - the Topiary Wildlife!
Topiary is of course the art of training plants to grow in fanciful shapes, such as this Topiary Unicorn:

How it works
There are 7 new coloured Topiary Pots available in the Pot Shoppe, which you unlock one by one.
After purchasing a pot, plant a "Topiary Bush" seed in it (you probably received one or more of these as "gifts" under your festive tree this year, but if not then you can also earn them over time by spotting Topiary Wildlife.)
After your Topiary is fully grown, follow the instructions to complete the "Topiary Trail" for this pot (don't worry - it will become clear exactly what a "Topiary Trail" is as you complete the challenge!)
Tip: After you get the hang of how Topiary Trails work, you'll realize that some careful forward-planning may be helpful. In particular, you should check the 'Topiary' section of the Wildlife Guide to see which wildlife are coming up in the next Topiary Trail, so you can plant ahead when appropriate.

We would just like to re-iterate that the Topiary Trails are intended as a long-term challenge, for players who enjoy challenges which can be completed gradually over time. You'll need to do things such as collect resources (seeds, gold, pink diamonds etc), garden planning, hunting, etc. If you don't enjoy these kinds of longer-term challenges, don't worry - we will have more quick/easy challenges coming in the future too :)
